Day 31 - Baking
2020 April 17
Friday
8:30pm:
I finally got my flat bread recipe right, and posted it today. I’ve tried a few different things over the years, but this version is the texture and flavour I was looking for.
The kids are thrilled as this is their favourite crust for personal pizzas. Now that everyone is home all the time, I think I will make a few batches to freeze so that I have something quick to pull out for lunchtime pizzas.
Other than that, I didn’t do much today. I read more in my gardening books, snuggled with the 1 year old, did puzzles with my almost-3yr old, and just enjoyed my family.
Life seems to have slowed down to a crawl.
I don’t mind it — this is how I like things, but it makes the days run together in a blur. If I wasn’t taking a moment to type something out each night, I’d have trouble remembering what day of the week it is and if I didn’t work on weekends there would be little structure to my week at all.
It feels the way summer vacation did when I was a child.
I watched the pilot episode of This Is Us tonight — I’ve never seen it before — and I’m not sure what to think. I ugly cried, and my friends all warned me that every episode will do that.
I’m not sure how I feel about a show engineered to elicit that reaction every time — it feels manipulative — but I’ll watch a few more and see how it goes.
If it continues to feel like this, though, I’m switching back the The Librarians.
