Easter Sunday

8:45pm:

Today was Easter.

#Kid2 planned and executed the annual hunt for the Easter baskets, and the younger siblings were thrilled. #Kid1 slept in and grabbed their basket when they got up. My husband made cinnamon rolls for breakfast, and then we hung out in our family room and watched “Onward!”

We puttered around the yard a bit at different points — my husband got one of the garden cages ready to be a vine covered fort structure for the kids, I refilled the bird feeders and scanned my plantings to see what bulbs survived the squirrels.

Apparently the yellow ones mustn’t taste as good because they’re the only ones that have come up.

I called my parents and talked for awhile about how things are going in Nova Scotia.

Supper was frozen turkey legs in the Instant Pot with a generous amount of summer savoury and garlic, using homemade chicken stock for liquid. I shredded the cooked turkey legs and used the liquid as base for a sauce for the shredded meat. We had mashed potatoes and peas on the side — peas are the 1 year old’s favourite food in the world.

Our family all lives out of province, so we’ve never had big, extended family meals. This holiday really isn’t terribly different for us, other than me NOT dashing out tomorrow for half-priced chocolate. I know it’s harder for others.

Happy Easter, Folks.

Thank you for staying home.
