Holiday Bake Sale Recipe Round-Up
Do you give the gift of holiday baking, participate in cookie exchanges, or need a no-fail BIG BATCH recipe for the school bake sale? Here is a round-up of 9 of my favourite holiday recipes!
This recipe is a breeze to make, easy to roll out, and fun to decorate however you wish. If you’re feeling extra adventurous, you can use it to make East Coast “filled cookies” by placing a teaspoonful of mincemeat in the centre of two rounds and crimping the edges closed — don’t knock it until you’ve tried it!
This recipe makes 6 dozen cookies — lots for you AND your bake sale!
Who doesn’t love a great butter tart? I’m a purist, so this recipe is "free of “extras”, but if you enjoy dried fruit or nuts (or bacon) in yours, they’re easy to add.
I will judge you, though.
This recipe makes 3 dozen tarts.
Make these as mini loaves in foil loaf pans, using canned pumpkin and call them “Pumpkin Spice Loaves” — we all know a fan.
This recipe makes one generous full-size loaf or 2-3 mini loaves (depending on pan size).
These sparkly cookies have just the right ratio of “crisp” to “chew”. They’re a huge favourite in my house, and very easy to make with ingredients most people have on hand.
This recipe makes 3 dozen cookies, and is easy to double or triple according to need.
This is my great grandmother’s recipe, as approximated by me. It makes a semi-soft molasses cookie that it suitable for rolling out and cutting with cookie cutters. Make sure you briefly refrigerate the dough before rolling — it makes things so much easier!
This recipe makes 6 dozen cookies.
Getting its name from the era of wartime rationing, this moist boiled raisin cake is low fat and full flavour. I make at least one of these a week over the holidays just for my family, and many others to give away. This recipe can also be baked in a traditional loaf pan or in mini-bundt pans, just make sure you adjust the baking time.
Make these brownie-like cookies extra festive by substituting festive holiday chips for the milk chocolate chips!
This recipe makes 7.5 dozen cookies.
A moist and chewy oatmeal raisin cookie never goes awry. These just get better with time (if they last that long).
This recipe makes 7 dozen cookies.
These cookies are fussier, but are a wonderfully decadent gift to give. This recipe is a great base for your own imagination — change up the nuts and fruit to make your own magical combination!
Makes 2 dozen cookies.
