I picked up this diaper when looking for bulletproof overnight options for my 2yr old. Many nights he is dry but on the ones where he isn't not just any diaper will work. I have heard a lot of good feedback about this brand, so I pre-ordered a size large in "Sprout". One of the downsides of these diapers is that they ship from the US and the shipping costs can be high. It's worthwhile to pool together with friends or consolidate your orders into one to cut down on the cost of postage. The price of postage notwithstanding, the diaper itself is quite reasonable at $25.95 USD.
At first glance, it feels really cushy and luxurious. The material is extremely soft, something that hasn't seemed to diminish with washing, and feels very durable. The main body of the diaper is 2 layers thick, with a double-tongued snap-in liner providing another 6 layers of absorbency. For overnight, there is an additional 3 layer booster, combining for a total of 11 thirsty layers of fabric. When doing the soak test, it was amazing to watch just how fast the material took up the water -- probably the fastest of any of the diapers I've tested. The construction is very well done -- no short-cuts here -- though I find the fit of the large runs big. Boy#3 is almost 3 years old and about 32lbs, the upper end of the weight range on this diaper, but has a lot of room left in the rise and is in the smallest setting without crossed-over-tabs. While the design does have one snap on the opposite wing, allowing for snap-over, I'm not sure this would make it small enough to fit the bottom end of the suggested weight range for the diaper. I don't mind it being larger, but this could be a problem if you were expecting it to fit at 22lbs.
The biggest downside to this diaper is the bulk. If you primarily use wool longies or shorties for pants, this won't be a problem, but this diaper is not going to fit easily under more tailored clothing like jeans. Even leaving out the extra booster doesn't do much to diminish the bulk. It fits very well under sustainablebabyish wool, in particular.
All in all, I give this diaper two thumbs up. I love it, I can foresee picking up a few more, and I've been very happy with its performance. I wouldn't hesitate to suggest this to someone looking for an overnight solution.
