Christmas Is Coming..
It's that time of year again -- the time of year where I make big, ambitious lists for myself of all the amazing homemade gifts I'm going to give and then realize I don't have quite as much time as I need, considering I have to send most of them to Nova Scotia by mail. ;) There are, however, lots of great gifts that can be made at home that don't require a lot of time and I'm sharing some ideas from this year's list!
- Solid perfume: This is an easy gift to customize for the recipient's preferences and is simple enough that a child of 7 can do it with adult supervision. It's also a fun way to use funky little tins and containers that I'm always finding at thrift stores!
- Tea Cup Candles: Simple and elegant, this is another child-friendly (with supervision!) gift to make. Part of the fun is sourcing the vintage tea cups and coffee mugs -- find mugs with slogans for that special someone with a sense of humor, find a tea cup with daffodils for the friend who longs for Spring.
- Homemade Liqueurs: This one is a little less child-friendly, but a great homemade gift for a friend who likes a shot of something special in her coffee or cocoa from time to time. *AHEM* ;) It's easy to find fun, decorative bottles at kitchen stores but a vintage flip-top beer bottle would be great, too!
- Upcycled Sweater Mittens: This is a simple way to make use of old wool sweaters. It does require rudimentary sewing skills, but is an easy way for a non-knitter to make and gift a fabulous pair of handmade mitts!
What easy homemade gifts do you like to give? What websites do you visit for inspiration? I admit that Pinterest has been inspiring me lately and some of these are ideas I spotted on friends' boards. :)
