<Melissa is quite sure that, no matter how much her almost-4-year-old argues otherwise, she does not have and has never had a penis. While she applauds his grasp of the idea of fluid gender identity, she still feels strangely defensive about being the only one in the house missing the aforementioned plumbing.> --

Overheard at lunchtime:

#2: "I haf a penis. Boys have penises. Durls haf penises, too."

#1: "Girls do not have penises. Only boys have penises, silly."

#2: [pauses to reflect on this for a moment] "Oh. What do durls haf?"

#1: [clearly in too deep at this point] "Um. Girls have voodoos."
