Hi.

Welcome to my place.

I write about about being a 40-something mum of five wonderfully exasperating children, attachment parenting, my adventures in the kitchen, and whatever else comes to mind.

Fit-in 15?

After a hellish last week, I think Andrea's (from a peek inside the fishbowl) challenge is just what I needed to see today. Two weeks ago I ordered an exercise video. Now, I'm not an "Exercise Video" kinda gal -- I hate them, really -- but I'd heard great things from quite a few folks I know about this particular one and was promised it would kick my ass. By the time it arrived last week, something else was kicking my ass and I'm only now feeling up to cracking the cellophane and tossing it in the DVD player.

15 minutes a day isn't a lot, but it's sadly more than I put into a concentrated effort in a 24hr period.

As I haven't a scale that works right now, I'll measure my progress for a week with a tape measure and see if I see a quantifiable change by the end of a week. I will also continue to add to this post my thoughts and observations on this challenge for at least one week. I won't use the video everyday, but will absolutely be getting that 15min in somewhere!

Can *you* do 15 minutes a day?

Height: 5'8" Weight: unknown -- likely around 145lbs (yay!)  Should probably see if I can fix the bathroom scales, right? I think the boys tsunamied it to death one too many times. :p Bust: 38" Waist: 29" Hips: 39"

Day 1 (Wed): 20 minute walk. Not quite up to cracking open the video on a day as nice as this! ;)

Day 2 (Thurs): abdominal exercises w/ balance ball -- hardest sit-ups ever :p

Day 3 (Fri): 20 minutes walking and carrying groceries through the neighbourhood w/ #2 - surprisingly challenging w/ road construction

Day 4 (Sat): I was on my feet most of the day at work, but this is pretty low activity. I spent about 45min trekking the 'hood doing errands afterwards, though. I love how pedestrian-friendly this area is. :)

Day 5 (Sun): I totally spazzed out Sunday. My head was aching pretty badly and I was exhausted from a sleepless night related to back pain. Does a half-hearted attempt at weeding count? I pulled grass and sprouted birdseed from the garden for about 1/2 hour.

Day 6 (Mon): Went for a 30min walk in the morning.

Day 7 (Tues): Went for a 15min walk and did some gardening.

Day 8 (Wed):
